Ottawa police arrest 20 during weekend prostitution sweep

Ottawa police arrested 20 people during a weekend prostitution sweep in Centretown. Police said 14 men and six women were arrested during the sweep, which took place between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

Police said eight of the men qualified for “john school” while four were criminally charged with communicating for the purpose of prostitution.

One of those men was charged with resisting arrest while two others were charged with breaching court-ordered conditions. Two men were released without charges. Police said the six women were charged with communicating for the purpose of prostitution and mischief.

Three of the women are also facing charges for breaching conditions.
