Magistrate Symon Wong Yu-wing remanded Lam, who stands at more than six feet tall, in police custody until Friday despite a defense plea for him to be handed over to the Correctional Services Department because six to seven investigators had tried to coerce his client into admitting the crime.

Security in court was tight, with Lam, in a blue jumpsuit, guarded by six police officers.

A naked Tam was found dead in the bathroom of her North Point flat on March 17.

An autopsy showed Tam was suffocated with a towel. Two cell phones and an Octopus card belonging to her were missing.

Tam was the fourth sex worker to be murdered since March 15. A 24-year-old Pakistani man was arrested and charged for the other three murders last week.

Officers arrested Lam on March 21 in Chai Wan based on data from the Octopus card.

The police said Lam admitted stealing items from her, including a gold bracelet that he had pawned.

On Saturday, Lam was taken by Organized Crime and Triad Bureau investigators to the North Point flat, where Tam operated a one- woman brothel, to re-enact the crime.

Lam will next appear in Eastern Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
