Pimp gets 20 years for child prostitution

A northwest Valley man has been sentenced to a 20-year prison term for taking a pair of teenage runaways and turning them to prostitution.

Joshua Randolph Morgan, 21, of Waddell, was sentenced last week in Maricopa County Superior Court after pleading guilty to child prostitution, attempted child prostitution and attempted sexual conduct with a minor, authorities said.

In addition, Morgan was placed on lifetime probation, said Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas.

“Phoenix police vice-squad investigators are to be commended,” Thomas said. “Our office will continue to work with local police agencies to punish pimps who force young girls into prostitution.”

Morgan was arrested in April 2007 after the two girls, ages 13 and 15, tried to solicit an undercover Phoenix police officer at Cortez Park at 35th and Dunlap avenues, police said.

Earlier, Morgan had met the two girls at the northwest Phoenix park, authorities said.
