Craigslist ad lands major prostitution bust

St. Paul, MN — St. Paul police arrested more than a dozen people after they say they caught the suspects using a popular website to buy and sell sex.

Officers spotted an ad on the Craigslist website. Then on Wednesday around noon, they busted 10 men and three women at a motel on St. Paul’s East Side.

Police say this latest round of arrests proves the Internet has changed the way prostitution is committed.

“I think it’s made it a lot more available,” said Peter Panos with the St. Paul Police Department. “It’s just like pornography. Before it was a fairly small industry, and it did it’s thing, and you dealt with it. The Internet — it exploded that industry just like it did everything else.”

All 13 people face charges ranging from engaging in prostitution to possession of a controlled substance.

  1. I don’t advertise my services on Craigslist anymore – sites like offer a much safer way to meet people for NSAs and such…
