PROVO — A woman who ran a massage business accused of being a little too friendly has been charged with prostitution and exploiting a prostitute.

B. A., 58, appeared Wednesday in 4th District Court, after being arrested last week in Lindon. She now faces two third-degree felony charges of exploitation of a prostitute and a class B misdemeanor charge of prostitution.

For nearly a month, police had been investigating the home-based business A Joyful Massage, after receiving complaints from customers who reported that sexual favors were being traded for money.

Investigators verified the complaints and found ads for the business on Web sites, said Lindon Police Chief Cody Cullimore.

Two employees who agreed to speak with police told officers that Anderson would perform massages that ended with sexual activities, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court. During a search of the home March 31, officers found massage tables and equipment, sexual paraphernalia, computer records, firearms and drug paraphernalia, Cullimore said.

Five people were arrested, and three of them were charged with class B misdemeanors and will have their cases dealt with in lower courts.

A. and her son, T. P., 38, were charged with felonies. P. was charged with possession of a firearm by a restricted person and possession of drug paraphernalia.
