HUNTINGTON — Nine people were arrested on various charges Friday night while police conducted a prostitution sting in Huntington.

Four women and five men were arrested in the sting.

Sgt. Eric Corder said they started at 11 a.m. Friday morning and ended around 8 p.m.

“We did two phases of the operation,” Corder said. “The first phase we sent undercover officers out to try and pick up the prostitutes, and in the second phase we sent an officer undercover as a prostitute.”

Corder said their goal is to be 100 percent proactive and help Huntington.

“We want to clean up the streets and get these types of things out of Huntington,” he said. “The prostitutes are doing what they’re doing to support their drug habits. They turn around and spend the money they make from prostitution on drugs, which is supporting the drug problem in the area. It just goes full circle. We want to rid the area of this.”
